Infertility is the failure to conceive after one year of unprotected intercourse. In a woman, infertility is treated with fertility drugs and hormones to help the woman ovulate or restore level of hormones. If a woman is not been able to conceive with drug, the tubal patency is checked by different methods:
- Hysterosalphingogram
- Saline Sonohysterography
- Laparoscopy & Dye Test

There are different causes in females, including; PCOS (Polycystic Ovary syndrome), Endometriosis, premature ovarian failure, Thyroid disorder, Tubal Blockage. Male factors include; oligospermia, azoospermia, ejaculatory factors etc.
Infertility is diagnosed by female hormonal profile including FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone), LH (Luteinizing Hormone) on day 2 of menses to see function of ovaries, serum prolactin level, TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone), value for thyroid function and Tubal patency test for tubal status. Semen analysis for male function is also done.
Tubal patency test is done by Hysterosalpingogram, Saline sonohysterography, Laparoscopy and dye test.
