Units
FDU activities benefit educators by a combination of formal and informal programs which may include certificate courses, seminars, workshops, special interest discussion groups, journal clubs on evolving trends, established practices and new research relevant to the needs of health professions educators such as medical, dental, nursing, midwives and allied health.
Functions:
- Build a strong foundation of the educational systems and processes based on evidence, research and local context.
- Enhance the expertise of educators in the development and implementation of newer curriculum frameworks and models, active learning methods, technology, assessment methods and processes, professionalism and evaluation of revised and innovative curricula.
- Assist individual/departmental faculty to implement new initiatives and practices in curriculum design, learning, assessment, evaluation and educational research.
The purpose of the Examination Unit is to develop an effective, transparent and centralized system of examination. Keeping pace with technological advancement, EU has equipped itself with item banking software and OMR scanner.
Functions:
- Conduct the inhouse examinations of undergraduate students, and examinations for selection of medical, nursing and allied health students, interns, residents and nursing staff.
- Maintain and update item banks.
- Involve in planning and development of exams according to predetermined guidelines.
- Ensure security and confidentiality of exam process.
- Compile results, perform Post Hoc analysis and finalize results.
The overall purpose of this unit is to help and guide faculty in the development, implementation, review and improvement of the courses being conducted at the institute.
Functions:
- Assist faculty to develop the curriculum in accordance with best evidence guidelines for health professions education.
- Facilitate in implementing the modular curriculum.
- Guide and support faculty in development and implementation of instructional strategies and materials.
- Conduct feedback and disseminate findings for course improvement.
- Collaborate with the health professional institutes for curricular review.
