Adolescence is a critical period of transition between childhood and adulthood during which an individual undergoes major physical and psychological changes. Adolescents are generally considered healthy; however, they have specific healthcare needs, which differ distinctly from those of children and adults. Adolescence is a time of big changes in the body as well as the mind. During this phase, a teenager may not only face problems in physical and pubertal growth but may also suffer from behavioral and mental problems. Timely evaluation and adequate interventions can help the adolescent transition smoothly through this critical phase of development.
Teenagers are neither big children nor small adults; they face unique physical and mental challenges as they mature. Adolescent Paediatric specialists have experience in understanding and treating both physical and emotional problems unique to this age group, in a comprehensive manner, with special attention toward sensitive and open communication.
