Post Graduate Training Program

Liaquat National Hospital is accredited by the CPSP for training in 27 disciplines and more are in the process of recognition. Our Major disciplines are also approved by The Royal of College of UK for post graduate training.

All disciplines have a 4-5 years structured program supported by system of Radiology, Pathology, oncology and other advance interventional services helping the trainees learn the most advance techniques and treatment options in line with the international standards.

Hospital has a dedicated skills lab for providing hands on training on Mannequins for procedures like nasogastric intubation, IV cannulation, ETT, basic surgical skills, basic life support and various other teaching modules. The hospital also organizes regular Teaching sessions, CME’s and workshops to provide on hand training and to equip them with updated knowledge. Trainees undergo a system of regular formal evaluation where their deficiencies and strengths are discussed in detail with the trainee and the supervisor. Hospital also organizes mock exams, TOACS to prepare them for their final exams.

To promote research, PGME has acquired services of trained Epidemiologist to help trainers and trainees understand the fundamentals of research and tools involve in conducting and formulating a research proposal and also help them in their Synopsis and dissertation as per the CPSP rules and regulations. Training programs also inculcates regular Journal Clubs, Morbidity and Mortality Meetings, radiology and various other teaching forums for its trainees.

With the medical college affiliated with the hospital, the trainees are also now encouraged to participate in the teaching process of undergraduates thus enhancing their teaching skills.




House Job:
LNH was recognized for house job training by PMDC in the year 1978 and in the year 1979, hospital got recognition from CPSP for the same.


In 1980, CPSP recognized LNH for MCPS training in four specialties.


In 1983, LNH got recognition for FCPS training from PMDC and CPSP in Surgery and Medicine.


In the year 1988, LNH got recognized from the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow for FRCS training. 


As LNH progressed, it further expanded its wings by getting recognition from PMDC and CPSP for FCPS training in 13 disciplines in 1994 and from 1995-1999 got recognized for another 06 disciplines.


LNH got recognition for MRCOG training in the year 1997 from the Royal College of Obstetrics / Gynecology of UK.


University Of Karachi
LNH is also recognized from the University of Karachi for MD and MS Programs.


In 1980, the same year in which LNH got recognition for MCPS training from CPSP, the first MCPS in Anesthesia of LNH was produced.

The first FCPS LNH trainee in General Surgery was produced in the year 1991.

Today, LNH has 27 recognized training departments and 32 departmental services. It has produced over 183 trainees and has 47 approved supervisors in different disciplines.
