Frequently Ask Questions

What is the eligibility criterion for Pakistani Students for applying admission?

The candidate who has passed the Intermediate Science Examination (HSC-Pre-Medical Group) of the year annual 2016 or annual / supplementary 2015 securing at least 60% marks in aggregate, unadjusted, from Pakistani Board / University or an equivalent examination of a Board of Higher Secondary Education in Pakistan shall be eligible to apply for admission in MBBS.
OR
The candidate who has passed any other examination of a foreign university or examination body of the year annual 2016 or annual / supplementary 2015 which contains the subjects declared as essential by PMDC in scope and standard, is found equivalent upon certification by the IBCC (Inter Board Committee of Chairmen) to the Intermediate Science Pre-Medical (F.Sc. with 60% marks) Education, shall be eligible for admission in MBBS.

What is the eligibility criterion for the Overseas Students for applying admission?

1. Pakistani national student who has passed an examination equivalent to intermediate level of Pakistan from a foreign university or examining body or foreign education system with IBCC equivalence certificate with a score of equal to or greater than 60%, including three subjects out of which Biology and Chemistry are essential subjects. If they have any of the following and has:
a. A SAT-II score of equal or more than 550 in three subjects two of which should be Biology and Chemistry, the third may be a science or of a humanities subject. OR A score of greater or equal to 24 in the MCAT exam.
b. The candidate may also appear in the Provincial entry test if he / she so desires.
c. The candidate is required to present a valid TOEFL or IELT with a minimum score of 500 or 5.5 only if the medium of instruction of study two years prior to application for Admission Entry Test is not English. An alternate to TOEFL and IELT is a certification by NUML Islamabad after a one year English language course.
2. Pakistanis having dual nationality/resident status of a foreign country shall be eligible for overseas admissions irrespective of the place of their premedical study in Pakistan or abroad. The candidate is required to have passed F.Sc./HSSC/Intermediate from a Pakistan Board or an examination equivalent to intermediate level of Pakistan after study abroad from a foreign education system and have IBCC equivalence certificate with a score of equal to or greater than 60% with three subjects out of which Biology and Chemistry are essential subjects. They are eligible to appear in the entry test for admission in MBBS/BDS. If they have any of the following:
a. A SAT-II score of equal or more than 550 in three subjects two of which should be Biology And Chemistry, the third may be a science or of a humanities subject. OR A score of greater or equal to 24 in the MCAT exam.
3. In lieu of the entry test of the admission authority, the candidate is required to have passed SAT-II examination score with minimum 550 marks in each of the three subjects of which two have to be Biology and Chemistry or MCAT with minimum aggregate score of 24.

On what basis would be the final selection done?

Final selection will be made on the basis of Matric marks 10% weightage, Inter marks 40% weightage, test marks 37.5% weightage, Interview marks 6.5% weightage, and Aptitude test marks 6.0% weightage.

Which university is LNMC affiliated to?

Liaquat National Medical College is affiliated with the University of Karachi since 23rd September 2006, and is allowed to impart training to 100 students each year for MBBS degree. University of Karachi has been awarding degrees to medical graduates for well over half a century. Recently, our new batches have been affiliated with the Jinnah Sindh Medical University and are being trained in modular system in semesters.

What is the format of Aptitude Test?

Test paper contains objective type questions including English, General Knowledge and Problem solving questions.

Do you require provincial entry test result for admission?

Yes, we require provincial test score.

What hostel facilities does LNMC offer?

Limited accommodation (subject to the availability of seats) is available on the premises for both male and female medical students from out of Karachi.

What societies does LNMC have?

LNMC have nine societies for extracurricular activities.

Does LNMC offer scholarships?

Yes,
1. We are offering Merit scholarship for securing 1st three positions in professional exam.
2. Need based scholarship for 2 students per year per batch from 2nd Year onwards.
3. Best Graduate of the year (For the best overall academic performance over 5 years) is awarded.

What is the research scope at LNMC?

LNMC has a research committee of students. All the research activities are supervised by research & ethical committees, which comprises of Chairperson and 8 – 10 members. The research committee has developed its own guidelines for submission of research projects meeting the international Helsinki Guidelines. Regular meetings are held to assess the submitted research projects and if necessary revisions and changes are done in research protocols. Once the research protocol along with the budget & time line is approved then it is referred to ethical review board before final approval. Research committee has substantial funds and encourages students & faculty to participate in national or international conferences and submit articles to international & national journals and provides financial support. To date our Medical students have published multiple papers in local and international journals as well as read papers both locally as well as internationally.

Is LNMC registered with foreign bodies?

The Medical College is registered with FAIMER, ECFMG, International Medical Education Directory (IMED), Avicenna (WHO) Directory, General Medical Council (GMC)U.K, and Canadian Resident Matching Service(CaRMS).

Is it only MBBS that LNMC offers?

Yes MBBS only.
But beside LNMC we have School & College of Physiotherapy, School & College of Nursing, BS Medical Technology in Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Operation Theater Sciences, Dialysis Technology, Critical Care Sciences, Diagnostic, and Radiology.

When are the students exposed to clinics?

From 3rd Year MBBS onwards.

What are the college timings?

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Does college have its own transportation?

Transport is available through contractor.
