Admission to the MBBS Programme

LNMC is open to all applicants without any discrimination of sex, religion, race, creed, colour or domicile who are academically qualified for admission to the courses of study offered.

Admission to the MBBS program is based on academic merit and performance in Entry Test conducted by the college & government authority in their respective provinces. Short listed candidates will be evaluated further on interviews. Passing of aptitude test / interview is mandatory.

A high academic score in any single discipline or any outstanding achievement alone is not sufficient for selection.

Criteria for Admission

A -
ELIGIBILITY FOR PAKISTANI STUDENTS (As per current PMDC provided criteria)

The candidate who has passed the Intermediate Science Examination (HSC-Pre-Medical Group) of the year annual 2016 or annual / supplementary 2015 securing at least 60% marks in aggregate, unadjusted, from Pakistani Board / University or an equivalent examination of a Board of Higher Secondary Education in Pakistan shall be eligible to apply for admission in MBBS.


The candidate who has passed any other examination of a foreign university or examination body of the year annual 2016 or annual / supplementary 2015 which contains the subjects declared as essential by PMDC in scope and standard, is found equivalent upon certification by the IBCC (Inter Board Committee of Chairmen) to the Intermediate Science Pre-Medical (F.Sc. with 60% marks) Education, shall be eligible for admission in MBBS.
B -

The following categories of students shall be eligible for admission on the overseas seats if they fulfil the following conditions.
1- Pakistani national student who has passed an examination equivalent to intermediate level of Pakistan from a foreign university or examining body or foreign education system with IBCC equivalence certificate with a score of equal to or greater than 60%, including three subjects out of which Biology and Chemistry are essential subjects. If they have any of the following and has:
a- A SAT-II score of equal or more than 550 in three subjects two of which should be Biology and Chemistry, the third may be a science or of a humanities subject.
A score of greater or equal to 24 in the MCAT exam.
b- The candidate may also appear in the Provincial entry test if he / she so desires.
c- The candidate is required to present a valid TOEFL or IELT with a minimum score of 500 or 5.5 only if the medium of instruction of study two years prior to application for Admission   Entry Test is not English. An alternate to TOEFL and IELT is a certification by NUML Islamabad after a one year English language course.
2- Pakistanis having dual nationality/resident status of a foreign country shall be eligible for overseas admissions irrespective of the place of their premedical study in Pakistan or abroad. The candidate is required to have passed F.Sc./HSSC/Intermediate from a Pakistan Board or an examination equivalent to intermediate level of Pakistan after study abroad from a foreign education system and have IBCC equivalence certificate with a score of equal to or greater than 60% with three subjects out of which Biology and Chemistry are essential subjects. They are eligible to appear in the entry test for admission in MBBS/BDS. If they have any of the following:
a- A SAT-II score of equal or more than 550 in three subjects two of which should be Biology And Chemistry, the third may be a science or of a humanities subject.
A score of greater or equal to 24 in the MCAT exam
3- In lieu of the entry test of the admission authority, the candidate is required to have passed SAT-II examination score with minimum 550 marks in each of the three subjects of which two have to be Biology and Chemistry or MCAT with minimum aggregate score of 24.
Ten (10) Marks will be deducted from the total marks (unadjusted) secured by those who have passed their Intermediate (HSC Premedical) or equivalent examination in Annual or Supplementary Examination 2015.

Application Requirements

1- Application kit can be obtained on payment of a mandatory non­-refundable application fee of Rs.3300/­ for local seats and $75 /­- for Foreign seats.
2- Application for admission must be submitted on the Application Form prescribed by LNH&MC which should be submitted along with photocopies of supporting documents duly attested by a Gazetted Officer of BPS­18 or above. UN-ATTESTED DOCUMENTS SHALL NOT BE ENTERTAINED.
a- 01 photocopy of Matriculation Certificate or provisional certificate from the school. 10th Grade or O­Level Equivalence Certificate issued by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC).
b- 01 photocopy of Mark Sheet for Matriculation or Transcript for 10th Grade or O­Level
c- 01 photocopy of Marks Sheet for Intermediate Science (HSC) Pre­Medical or equivalent Certificate for 12th Grade or A­level.
d- 01 photocopy of Transcripts of A­level or 12th Grade issued by the concerned Board.
e- 01 attested photo copy / printout of NTS / government entry test result conducted in their respective province in 2016.
f- 01 recent passport size photograph to be pasted on Application form and 2 on admit card without attestation.
g- 01 photocopy of applicant's National Identity Card, if the applicant has attained the age of eighteen years; or "B" form if he/she is below the age of eighteen years.
h- 01 photocopy of applicant's Father's/Guardian's National Identity Card.
  1. Applicant can be asked to submit any other document in original or photocopy at any time as Required by the LNMC.
  2. Incomplete forms shall be rejected. Forms will not be accepted after the closing date or time
  3. The applications for admissions to 1st year MBBS shall be invited through an advertisement in the press mentioning the last date of receiving such applications. The application shall have to be submitted personally or through an authorized person.

Selection / Admission Committee

The selection/Admission Committee for selection of candidates for admission to 1st year MBBS will be as under:

- Head of Department, Anatomy Member
- Head of Department, Physiology Member
- Head of Department, Biochemistry Member
- Head of Department, Medicine Member
- Head of Department, Surgery Member
- Head of Department, Gynae/Obstetrics Member
- Controller Academic Administration & Research Training Member

Entry Test / LNMC Aptitude Test

a - The Government Entry Test will be conducted in all provinces on the date and time announced by the respective provincial governments / NTS / test conducting authority in 2016 for admission to 1st year MBBS class. LNMC aptitude test shall be conducted on Sunday 2nd October, 2016.
b - All eligible candidates desiring to get admission in MBBS course LNMC will be required to appear in the aptitude test of Liaquat National Medical College and Entry Test conducted by the provincial government / NTS in their respective provinces of residence / city.
c - Formula for working out the overall merit:
- Matric marks 10% weightage
- Inter Science (Pre-Medical) marks 40% weightage
- Government Entrance Test marks 37.5% weightage
- Aptitude Test of LNMC 6.00% weightage
- Interview 6.5% weightage
d - All admissions are provisional till the verification of documents by the candidate and also the correct observance of the rules. If at any stage it is proved that the candidate has been admitted on the basis of false/incorrect documents or information or against the rules of admission, his/her admission shall be cancelled immediately after giving him/her an opportunity to show cause (within seven days) as to why his/her admission should not be cancelled and all fees paid by him/her shall be forfeited and LNMC have the right to take legal action against him/her according to law.
e - The rules and regulations for holding different professional examinations for MBBS course shall be in accordance with the rules and regulations framed by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council for the degree of MBBS as amended from time to time and as approved by the Jinnah Sindh Medical University Karachi.
f - The selected candidates shall get themselves enrolled with the institution by paying the institution fees in full, when requested.

Medical Fitness Certificate

  1. All selected candidates will have to undergo a Medical Examination.
  2. Screening for infectious / communicable disease will be undertaken and if the person is found to have any such disease he / she shall not be eligible for admission.
  3. The candidate will have to produce Medical Fitness Certificate within 15 days of commencement of classes.

Eighty Five (85) seats at LNH & MC are reserved for open competition amongst the candidates who fulfill the Criteria laid down in the rules of admission.

Fifteen (15) seats have been reserved for children of Pakistani's living abroad subject to the criteria and other formalities for admission laid down by PM&DC.

* If these seats are not utilized, then the same will be filled by local candidates.
